With months of more or less cold weather and snow on the ground, and the path from her porch being snow, ice, water, mud, at various times/combinations, Pearly hasn't been outside much. On milder days she has sat on the porch, and a few times has ventured just below, but no 'excursions'.

Has anyone made a #PeerTube plugin/extension to do autocaptioning/translation for videos you are not an admin for? There is lots of great content that is in languages I can't understand, but would love to watch with subtitles. I guess a plugin wouldn't even need to be aware of PeerTube if it was just doing subtitles to your operating system audio.
This is so amusing: Usually I was told things like
* videos "must" be published on YouTube to be seen.
* "of course" you have to follow some rules for the algorithm.
* noone knows mastodon or peer-what?
And now my videos are on my own #Peertube instance and get more views in a couple of days than they got on YouTube in months. Without caring for any algorithm...

I'm imagining a social media experience where I have an app like NewPipe, that can search the open PeerTube network (maybe using a Sepia Search API), show me videos, and let me comment on them with my Mastodon account.

After backing up my two VPSs I am now staring at my #YunoHost dashboard thinking: now what?
It feels a little odd not to have to tackle any pressing self-hosting issues. Everything seems to be working well, including my manual installation of Ghost on a second (Ubuntu) VPS.
I'm now in maintenance mode.
I must confess in the past 24 hours I have spent some time browsing @yunohost 's app catalogue. So many fascinating things in there! But I am exercising restraint (for now, LOL!)
I'm very grateful for all the software I'm currently self-hosting.

I'm highly aware of my privilege and how lucky I am to be doing all this. But can I confess I'm a little bored? Thankfully I may have another big project on the horizon: upgrading my VPS and installing / self-hosting #PeerTube. But that will be for another week. Resting now and enjoying this sense of empowerment / digital sovereignty. Very grateful to be in this position.

This video achieved 15 views on #MakerTube / #PeerTube in about 7 days. I guess it will have 50 by the end of the day on #YouTube, where I published it in addition some minutes ago.
Still I will always upload videos to MakerTube first. Comments will remain disabled on YouTube, I just can't stand them.
