Going back to my first post— can you imagine how confusing this is for my pre-teen child? Going from positive understanding and empowerment to the idea that something is wrong with them and apparently could have been prevented?

~ RFK Jr.'s autism study to amass medical records of many Americans ~

The non-expert already thinks he knows the answers. So, if he can just get all of that juicy data— incl. people’s personal medical records— he can aggregate it all & have AI look through it— certainly the “problem” must be easy to solve—

And then integrate the list (“registry”) of Americans w/ #autism into that juicy data and follow THAT SPECIFIC GROUP OF AMERICANS — over time.

Why them & not others? Well, that particular “problem” bothers him more than others for whatever reason. #rfkjr

6 mo. ago: My child received answers after being diagnosed as being on the #autism spectrum by a neuro-developmental expert (doctor)— just like others in the family.

We were happy for answers. With proper understanding, we can empower them to live their most awesome life 🎉

Now: A non-expert who has been put into a position of power/influence has labeled my child as having a “preventable disease”— something wrong w/ them & wants to put them on a list w/ others he doesn’t understand. #rfkjr

Since RFK Jr's anti-neurodiverse antics are trending, and today was #Lenin's birthday, now might be a good time to point out that Lenin was probably autistic. He was known to have food issues — his wife reported frustration that he didn't seem to have a favourite food, and when questioned whether he liked a dish he didn't seem to know how to answer. He had a speech impediment, and was known for being unnecessarily pointed and aggressive in his speech. He of course also had his hyperfixations (admittedly, hard not to as a revolutionary theorist).

As far as motor criteria, one really only needs to look at the many awkward ways in which he always sat, to the point that it was stereotyped heavily in Russian media during his life and following his death: One need only "sit like Lenin" in order to be pegged as imitating him. Usually, all twisted up, one leg over the other, his elbow up, maybe his chin in his hand, or some variation of all this.

We obviously can't make a diagnosis for a dead man, but I think it's safe to say that Comrade Lenin was also a comrade in neurodiversity, and yet another excellent rebuttal to recent hateful rhetoric around people with #autism.

@DecaturNature Exactly, and the great thing about that and many other proper scientific studies is how they are voluntary —People choose to participate in studies they are explicitly told how their info will be used and guarded.

If #rfkjr looked at the NIH’s website (a government agency over which he, as the head of HHS, has authority), he would see many proper scientific studies that have been already done re: #autism and its particular causes.

Imagine a decrepit loveless old man who looks like a cut of aged French cheese with teeth taking a shot at this chap—or any of us still fortunate enough to harbour a human soul—for 'ruining families'.

“In addition (to amassing private medical records from a number of federal and commercial databases), a new disease registry is being launched to track Americans with autism, which will be integrated into the data. Advocacy groups and experts have called out Kennedy for describing autism as a "preventable disease," which they say is stigmatizing and unfounded.”

I am shocked and confused by the sheer number of people who believe that the government can’t make a list of people with #autism because of HIPAA. Bruh WHAT?!?!

If you’ve received a prescription that would show up in the prescription drug monitoring database in your state nothing prohibits them from giving that information to the federal government. But it sounds like he’s planning on getting that information directly from the pharmacies anyway. Why wouldn’t the pharmacy give the information to the government? They don’t care about us.

If you have Medicaid or medicare or tricare, the federal government has your records.

But even if not, an EO could eliminate HIPAA and who would stop it?

The Hospital system I use (and the last three in NH that I have used) all have fine print in their privacy policy that says they can send your medical information to anyone they deem necessary. None of the fine print at my providers in California said this, but I haven’t lived there in 10 years so maybe they do now.

When I see this and I object to it they claim it it’s no big deal, it’s just so if they want to refer me to another medical practice they don’t have to ask me first they can just send the records and that’s good for me because then things happen faster.

Every time I’ve seen this in the fine print at a new doctor’s office I’ve had to go through all kinds of extra steps to make sure it’s on record that they are not to send my medical records anywhere without talking to me first.

#HIPAA isn’t real anymore and it hasn’t been for a really long time. Obama did #HITECH when we got EMRs, but the only provision from that I found useful was that I could request a print out (I think they called it an audit trail) of everyone who had accessed my electronic medical records, which could assure me that my ex-boyfriend wasn’t looking at my Hospital records when he was in surgery there as an anesthesiologist.

Back in 2021 or 2022 JAMA published an article explaining that HIPAA won’t save you from getting arrested in a post roe country, but last time I clicked on it it wasn’t available anymore. It’s not what people think it is. It’s not going to save us.

My sister (42) has been diagnosed with ‘hyper dynamic LV function with EF 70%’ which puts her in a risky place cardiac-wise. She’s autistic and highly prone to anxiety so she’s freaking out big time, understandably. 😕 I had a few freak outs after my sole afib incident until I got stress under control!

I’m trying to help her (her request) with exercise, starting with gentle yoga and mindfulness. Anyone in the same boat have recommendations? ❤️ #cardiology #HeartHealth #autism #exercise

⭐ Hey #MutualAid community,

🧩 I have autism and struggle with social anxiety, so I’m reaching out today for a bit of mutual aid, if you’re able, please give this post a boost.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 It’s a small ask, but I’m working on accepting my social anxiety, and your support would mean a lot and could help me find new friends nearby to overcome my social anxiety, heal, and feel more comfortable socializing.

🇳🇴 I’m based in Bergen, Norway, with interests in Anarchism, particularly anarcho-syndicalism, as well as free software and Linux.

💙 Thank you so much!
