A Newsletter Writer Reflects On Leaving Substack
First, moving my monetization off of Substack wasn’t as big of a pain in the ass as I thought it would be
#Ghost as my new newsletter host...offered a concierge service that did almost all the work, porting over content and holding my hand... they charge a flat rate rather than taking 10% as Substack did

Fomenting Antisemitism
After leaving Substack, writers are making more money elsewhere
[T]hey are receiving a higher share of subscription revenue after making the switch from Substack to rival newsletter services such as Ghost and Beehiv.
„However for all creators or potential creators, I will say again: leaving Substack behind is probably a better idea than staying no matter your circumstance, and it is easier than I thought it would be, and it costs less than I feared it would.“ — A.R. Moxon
Ah, another delightful episode of political "insanity" where the administration's test is to figure out how to read the "writing on the wall" without squinting too hard. Because apparently, they need a #Substack newsletter to alert them that deporting people with work permits might be a bad look.

Don't call your own writing "a Substack". And don't publish there, either.
"Substack is, just as a reminder, a political project made by extremists with a goal of normalizing a radical, hateful agenda by co-opting well-intentioned creators' work in service of cross-promoting attacks on the vulnerable." (Also, self-hosted Ghost is way cheaper!)

It's certainly an interesting counter-point to discussions I've seen. Worth a read if you're a product owner, manager, even developer.
Once again, I am here, begging you, bloggers and writers....
If you are writing about the evils of the current regime, upheld by broligarchs, AND you are posting it on #Substack , a corporation owned by techbros who support the regime, take a LOOOOOOONG look at the mirror, and ponder your choices.
You might as well just buy a #tesla.
Stop giving money to them.
THERE ARE OPTIONS FOR HOSTING.
Got a blog? Here are three steps to ensure I will never read it:
1) Host it on #Substack, the company that pays Nazis to write on their platform
2) Use an AI generated image for your link, thus denying a living, breathing artist the opportunity to create something that doesn't look like an hallucination
3) Pose an inane question to draw people in, and then bury the lede beneath empty bloviating
Mastodon friends: I want to write a blog (or at least, I have an idea for a post!). Is #substack a good choice? Is it fairly intuitive for a non-specialist?
