Brass knob,
oaken door
hides marble tiles
on flagstone floor
The door is held
a touch ajar
by thick wound cord
made of dust of stars
Dark wood stain
a starry night
from which moonbrass
glints in the light
When hinge creaks
its lonely tone
the note it sings
to music grows
The threshold stands —
a place of its own —
tied with a chord —
leads to vaults unknown
